About Maria Chiara
Graduated with the highest marks in Classical Literature at the University of Pavia, I specialised in Ancient Near Eastern languages and cultures, with a special interest in Hittite and Babylonian religion and magic rituals. During both degree courses I have also studied Neuroscience and other subjects at the IUSS Pavia, one of Italy's three independent schools of excellence, where I obtained both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees cum laude. During this time, I have also studied Neurosciences and other subjects at the IUSS Pavia, one of Italy's three independent schools of excellence, where I obtained both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees cum laude. I have studied and done research in Munich and Paris, where I currently reside (in France! not in the province of Parma, as it might be stated here).
I love Russian and German literature, psychedelic rock, cinema, video games and 8bit music. I like technology but I only pretend to know how to use it....

Falling in love with the most human of subjects is easier than it looks! And I know it well: I have managed to conquer even the most stubborn of mathematicians, physicists and computer scientists...
Sooner or later we have all experienced it: there is nothing easier and more automatic than remembering something we are really interested in. Unfortunately, however, the school system sometimes struggles to makestudents enthusiastic: the teacher's job, on the other hand, is certainly not an easy one, but also the students often find themselves subjected to challenges and stress that can undermine their performance and serenity.
'Homo sum, humani nihil a me alienum puto': the poet Terence knew it all! Whatever is human, in a certain sense, belongs to us, and there is no human being who cannot be passionate and curious about the humanities. And this is not only beautiful, it is also useful: numerous studies in modern psychology and neuropsychology show that learning in association with positive emotions is easier, faster and longer lasting, with a greater propensity at applying the same knowledge in practice.
With the main objective of satisfying the student by providing a pleasant and engaging lesson, I like to enrich the content of school texts with small insights and interesting. little-known facts about authors, works and ideas. I like to maintain a cheerful and informal tone during the lesson, and I tend to adapt the style of the language to the age and needs of the student, while paying special attention to the lexical and linguistic enrichment of the student. Before starting the new lesson, I also tend to quickly recap the essential points of the previous one, in order to stimulate long-term memorisation, test the effectiveness of the method and elaborate precise learning strategies, finely tuned to the rhythms and personalities of each individual student.
How did I develop this strategy? Simple: I created it and tested it on myself! Having to take exams and courses at a fast pace and with a very high average pushed me to develop new strategies to make my learning easier, more enjoyable and faster. At the same time, I loved sharing what I was learning with my friends and family, and I realised how to intrigue and make people interested with nichey and bizarre subjects like the Assyrian exorcistic rituals. Did I succeed? You be the judge!
