About Robert
I have worked primarily in writing or editing roles since graduating with my BA in 2016. My main passion lies in writing, as demonstrated by my completing a Masters in Journalism 2019-2020. Since finishing my MA, I have been freelancing for various companies and writing recreationally - my own scripts and short stories.
With this line of work, I have plenty of spare time on my hands and I know that it would be best-used tutoring. I have been encouraged by those closest to me to pursue this line of work and feel passionate about it. My past experiences with tutoring/ teaching have given me the confidence to help my students achieve their highest potential.

I have a knack for communicating with children in a way that motivates them and makes their studies enjoyable.
While at the University of Sheffield, I worked as a Play-worker at Nether Green After School Club. I supervised regular homework/ revision sessions for Year 6 students, preparing them for entrance exams.
My amiable personality was noted by my supervisors, who were impressed with how I managed to make kids behave without having to get angry or scold them.
More recently, I tutored students at Belmont Junior School in the capacity of a Teaching Assistant. My teaching experience here covered every subject, but the humanities are where I excelled, as noted by teachers at the school (including the deputy headteacher).
I have done one-on-one with SEN children, including a delightful student named Eoin, who had dyslexia. I ensured that he learned helpful and more efficient methods for students with dyslexia. This included multi-sensory lessons (using plenty of images and videos) and presenting new language in small, manageable chunks.
I helped make English lessons fun, as most of the tasks he received were based on creative writing. We were all proud of the progress he made, as he received a class prize for one of his stories which gave him great encouragement in his writing abilities.
My lessons typically last for an hour, but I am flexible with lesson time. Regarding age groups, I can tutor children from KS2 level to GCSE, in either English, English Literature or History.
