  • 1)When did you develop an interest in law and in private tutoring?

I developed an interest in the law from a very young age as I wanted to be a Police Officer from the age of 7. By the time I got to choosing my A Levels topics I had no idea what I wanted to do specifically, so I chose to study Law. It was during this A Level that I developed a passion for the law that has continued to grow and lead me to my LLB.

Since I started my University career in 2016 I have always been interested in teaching and helping others. I enjoyed explaining things in my own ways and preparing my own exercises for students. Last Summer when I started Superprof, I started to develop a love for 121 tutoring and have not looked back since!
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

My passion for law is mostly rooted in Private and Civil topics. The first topic I ever loved was Tort Law. I enjoy Contract, Equity and Trusts, Land Law, Company Law, Tax Law, Succession (Wills and Probate) and most importantly Private International Law.

I have experience in teaching all the above topics as well as Criminal Law, Policing Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law and International Law.

There are no areas of law that stick out to me as bad or less enjoyable; just some topics are harder to grasp than others such as Evidence Law and Trusts Law.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

My role models have chopped and changed throughout my life as I have grown up. The one role model that has always remained is my mother. She is caring, resilient and honest. That's what I aspire to be.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

To be a good tutor you must be flexible to allow for many different learning styles from those you teach. You must be understanding as everyone learns at a different pace and has a different depth of knowledge.

You must be prepared as people are paying for your time and you do not want to waste theirs. Finally, you must be passionate about what you're teaching as enthusiasm is often the key to success and it can rub off on others (even if just a little bit).
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

This is a cliché but I have learnt that it is not about how much time you spend on something, it is about how you spend that time.

My main to tips in this regard are: Do not be afraid to use cntl + f to find what you're looking for instead of reading a whole text and do not shy away from referencing as you go along, as referencing at the end takes far longer!
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

For me, my main challenge in my own work is knowing when to take a break. I often get so immersed in the legal topic that I am working on that I talk about it in my personal life with every opportunity I get.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My passion is research. This comes from a lifelong passion for learning and obtaining knowledge. I strive to know things and to continue to know more. I love being able to contribute to conversations and I love teaching others and spreading that knowledge.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof ?

I am patient and understand that everyone is different. I am happy to teach in a style that suits the student. I will go above and beyond if I can!
