About Merian
I am an LLB Law student with ambitions to pursue a career in the legal profession. Alongside my studies, I serve as Social Secretary at my university and hold a role in my university's fashion society, managing event planning.
Teaching is something I feel a genuine connection to. Growing up in a family of teachers, I've seen firsthand the difference that passionate, dedicated education can make. That was reinforced by an exceptional English teacher I had during my own schooling, whose influence sparked a love of the subject that has stayed with me ever since. I know from personal experience how transformative the right teacher at the right moment can be and this is what I aspire to offer my students.
Outside of academia, I have a passion for music and art, which shapes the way I approach learning with creativity and curiosity. I believe the best tutors are those who are still active learners themselves, and I bring that enthusiasm into every session.

My approach to tutoring
Growing up in a family of teachers, I've been immersed in education from an early age. This has included observing GCSE-level lesson planning firsthand. This means I understand how to structure learning effectively.
My sessions are interactive and conversational. I believe curiosity is the foundation of real understanding, so I actively encourage questions and make space for students to think out loud rather than just passively receive information. No two students learn the same way, so I adapt my style to whoever I'm working with. My goal is always for students to leave each session feeling more confident.
Lessons typically run 1 to 1 hour 45 minutes, depending on the student's age, focus, and what we're working on that session.
Qualifications: I achieved A in English Literature, A* in Philosophy, and A in Politics at A-Level, alongside Grade 7s-8s in English Language, English Literature, and Maths at GCSE. I have particular familiarity with the AQA GCSE specification, so I know exactly what examiners are looking for.

I work with students from primary school all the way through to A-Level, covering English and Politics (Edexcel A-Level). Whether your child needs help building foundational skills or preparing for high-stakes exams, I tailor every session to their specific needs and goals.
