About Shivam

I have extensive experience with academic writing, legal research, essay writing, and critical analysis, and I enjoy helping students become more confident in their own ability to write and understand difficult material.

My lessons are designed around the individual student. I focus not just on improving a particular assignment, but on teaching practical skills that students can apply independently, including how to structure a strong essay, develop a clear argument, write effective prose, and improve reading comprehension. I also help students understand how to use AI tools responsibly and effectively to improve their writing, rather than relying on AI to do the work for them.

Lessons are 45 minutes (or more) and are available for students from Year 11 through university level/post graduates. Whether you are struggling to understand what an assessment question is asking, finding it difficult to structure your ideas, or simply want to take your writing to the next level, I aim to provide clear, practical guidance in a supportive and focused environment.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach focuses on helping students develop the skills and confidence to become stronger, more independent writers and readers. Rather than simply correcting individual assignments, I focus on teaching students how to structure an argument, write clear and persuasive prose, engage critically with texts, and approach assessments strategically.

Lessons typically run for 45 minutes and are tailored to the student's needs. Depending on the student, sessions may focus on proper essay structure and argumentation, improving clarity and style, developing reading comprehension, or working through a particular assignment or assessment. I also teach students how to use AI tools effectively and responsibly as part of the writing process, including how to use AI to identify weaknesses, generate feedback, and improve their own writing without becoming dependent on it.

I have an LLM from the University of Sydney. My academic and professional experience has involved extensive legal research, academic writing, editing, and analysis, as well as working in university research and teaching-related roles.

I offer lessons to students from Year 11 through to university/college level, particularly students who want to improve their essay writing, reading comprehension, academic writing, and overall confidence with written assessments.
