About Brayden
I’m a concert composer, violinist, and music educator with over 15 years of experience in performance and creative music-making. I began piano at age 3 and violin at age 5, and since then, music has shaped every part of my life. I’ve won national and regional competitions—including the Jacobs Haydn Concerto Competition, the Maccauley Chamber Music Competition, and my high school concerto competition (where I performed my own violin concerto with orchestra). I studied violin at the Jacobs School of Music’s pre-college program and currently study at a top conservatory (SFCM) as a composer. As both a performer and a composer, I bring a deep understanding of how music works from the inside out. I’ve taught at summer music camps, coached chamber music, and worked privately with young musicians—and I love helping students build confidence, creativity, and strong technique. Whether you’re just picking up an instrument or preparing for auditions, I’m here to help you grow as a musician, not just a player. I believe every student has something unique to say through music. My goal is to nurture that voice with care, structure, and inspiration.

My teaching method is built around a personalized, student-centered approach. I believe technique and musicality should develop side-by-side, so lessons include a balance of foundational skills (scales, posture, tone production) and expressive playing. I adapt each lesson to the student's pace and interests, incorporating fun challenges, creative exercises, and even beginner improvisation or composition when helpful.
A typical lesson includes:
Warm-up and technique (scales, bow exercises, or finger patterns)
Repertoire work (from classical etudes to solo pieces)
Musical interpretation and phrasing
Ear training or theory (especially for young students or composers)
For piano, I focus on hand coordination, reading fluency, and healthy habits from the start. For composition students, we explore structure, creativity, notation, and listening analysis based on each student's goals.
What sets me apart is that I'm not only an experienced performer and teacher, but also a composer who brings a deep understanding of musical storytelling. I’ve soloed with orchestra on a concerto I composed, won national competitions, and studied at top programs like Jacobs and my current conservatory. This gives my teaching a unique blend of technical depth and creative insight.
My lessons are open to:
Violinists of all levels (ages 5+, from beginners to advanced pre-college students)
Beginner to early intermediate piano students
Young composers or students interested in learning how to write their own music
Whether you're preparing for a competition, learning your first piece, or curious about composing, I’ll meet you where you are and help you grow confidently and musically.
