About Matt
A recent graduate from Leeds Conservatoire, I have been playing guitar for ten years. I write music on my own and with other people, and have a lot of experience gigging in a psychedelic-pop-jazz band around Leeds and Nottingham, but also compose gentler, bossanova-style guitar pieces, as well as electronic music. I have so far taught beginners and intermediates, all of whom responded well to teaching, and I have managed to bring them to a stage where they can comfortably improvise, and even compose their own music.

I am interested in aspects of all genres of music, and will happily teach my pupils anything they particularly want to learn: in my experience of teaching, I have always tried to get to the bottom of my pupils' music taste, asking them to make a list of their favourite songs, and then have spent a lot of time preparing my lessons so that I can come up with the best way to teach them parts to their favourite songs. I have a solid base in music theory and can answer many music based questions, not necessarily specific to guitar, and I would feel comfortable in preparing students for grades and/or theory tests if that was what they or their parents wanted. I really just want to work with whatever the pupil wants to learn, as I feel this is the most effective and rewarding way to teach and learn. I can teach in London, Nottingham or Leeds.
