About Jess
Teacher with over 20 years experience teaching every grade from K-12, Community College, University level, and Graduate School.
My Graduate degrees have all focused specifically on learning and motivation for effective teaching. Additionally, I have served as a Science Department Chair, Lead Faculty in Research, Trained Teachers at the State and National Level in learning effectiveness and inquiry and was nominated as Who's Who in America in 2023.
I am an avid adventurer, once working as a wilderness ranger, and currently live in a resort town in Colorado.
P.S. I went to NASA Space Camp twice as a kid.

Task analysis is everything! First, we start with what you are supposed to know, then we figure out the adventure to get there.
I teach by modeling the thinking that is required to solve the problem or learn the concept. Then use a combination of guided learning and independent practice to master the concept.
For evaluations, I prefer self-demonstrated methods that require a full and robust understanding rather than tests.
My lessons are designed from 5th grade through High School in mathematics, writing, and the sciences.
I am a two-time "Teacher of the Year" (LBUSD) and winner of the Distinguished Faculty of the Year, 2014 from a large university.
