Hello students!
I'm Akemi, a licensed professional English teacher based in the Philippines with over eight years of experience in both online and traditional classroom settings. In 2013, I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education majoring in English, and successfully passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers, enabling me to teach English in my home country.
For four years, I had the privilege of instructing Junior and Senior High School students. Concurrently, I also conducted online classes for young learners from China and the USA. In 2018, I embarked on a new adventure as an English as a Second Language teacher on a cruise ship, where I had the pleasure of teaching crew members from diverse backgrounds, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and Russians, among others. When the pandemic struck, I transitioned back to online teaching, focusing on both children and adults and have been doing so for the past two years.
In my experience, I've found that there are various methods and learning styles when it comes to acquiring a second language. However, I firmly believe that one of the most effective approaches, if not the most universally applicable, is incorporating the language into your daily life. Consistent practice, coupled with constructive feedback, is key to mastering a language. While it may not be easy, rest assured, you will make progress.
