About Andie
Hello! I'm Andie, a dedicated English literature scholar. I possess a Bachelor's and Master's degree in the field, and I'm currently pursuing my PhD in Anglo-Irish Literature as a doctoral scholarship recipient. My academic excellence extends back to my A-levels, which have shaped my approach to learning. I also work as a teacher at a private school, guiding students through 11+, 13+, GCSE, A-Level, and university-level English exams. I've taught over 200 lessons, both in person and online, successfully helping students raise their grades. My approachable and friendly nature sets me apart, as I prioritise understanding and kindness to make learning engaging. My passion for literature stems from its ability to connect people across time and culture, fostering empathy and critical thinking. I aim to inspire students to appreciate language's beauty, engage in textual analysis, and participate in meaningful discussions. In my approach to teaching English Literature and Language, I prioritise a structured yet flexible lesson plan tailored to each student's needs. Initially, I assess students’ proficiency and identify their goals through discussions and diagnostic assessments. Based on this, I design a curriculum incorporating essential literary concepts, critical analysis, and relevant texts. Each lesson will follow a clear structure: an engaging introduction to hook students, followed by an exploration of themes and contexts, and culminating in a reflective discussion or activity. I incorporate various teaching methods, such as direct instruction, group discussions, and creative assignments, to cater to different learning styles. To prepare for each session, I curate literature and language selections, develop thought-provoking questions, and create interactive materials that foster engagement. I promote a supportive environment where students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts. To measure progress, I utilise formative assessments such as essays, presentations, and reflective journals. Regular feedback and one-on-one check-ins ensure that students stay on track and feel empowered. Encouraging learning is vital, so I emphasise the importance of curiosity and critical thinking. By nurturing a love for literature and equipping students with analytical skills, I aim to inspire them to achieve their academic goals and develop a lifelong appreciation for the subject.
