About Alexander
Lex Prestwood is a teacher and performer based in Fort Walton Beach, FL, with a focus on saxophone (classical, jazz, and modern) and trumpet. A native of Texas, Lex enlisted in the US Army at 18 to join the 395th Army Band. After completing basic training, he graduated from the Army School of Music and returned to his unit, performing in several small groups, including Soldiers of Soul and the 395th Big Band. In 2022, Lex continued his service as a multi-instrumentalist with the 380th Army Band in Norfolk, VA, where he played in various small ensembles such as Who Dat Brass Band. Beyond wind instruments, Lex has also performed live as a rhythm guitarist and vocalist in a worship band setting.

My approach to teaching revolves around helping students develop a genuine love for music. I believe in empowering students to set their own musical goals, which fosters a sense of achievement. Rather than simply providing a step-by-step path, I see myself as a guide on their unique musical journey. My students will experience growth not just within classical school bands, but also across a range of styles—jazz, funk, blues, rock, pop, and more. I’m passionate about teaching students to be performers, not just musicians.
My lessons are best suited for beginners of all ages and backgrounds, and the saxophone lessons range from beginner to college prep and performance.
