Between high school and college I volunteered for non profit organizations who provided free community & health education for low income families in the Bay Area. I volunteered in the summer mostly so I worked with kids who were in Kingman - 5th grade and sometimes teenagers who were 13+. I mostly provided the children in these programs 1:1 support if they were not understanding the materials and helped the teachers with any communication barriers they had with Spanish speakers. At Napa College I was a tutor for other college students who were learning Spanish as a secondary language. I was also a tutor for students who attended night school at both the college and adult school and these students specifically were learning English as a secondary language. In the last few months I held a job as a para educator level 5 and I worked with pre high school students who exhibited learning disabilities and had behavioral issues. Even though I was still supervised by the teacher in the room, I provided 1:1 support, worked as a team to find solutions and strategies to help students not just learn but to understand the class material. I also help teach lessons when there was no teacher, I helped pre plan and strategies future lessons.

Worked 1:1 with students falling behind or not understanding material, taught lessons when the main teacher was out, helped with providing alternative teaching materials to help students understand subjects, helped with creating lessons and helped gradingAs a need of Spanish speaker I sometimes struggle with some Spanish. I was always very shy and scared to ask for help just because I felt embarrassed asking for help in my Spanish class. l met Jose in my second semester Spanish class in college when he saw that I was struggling he offered to help. The best part was that I had someone to practice my language skills with and review for exams if it wasn’t for him I probably would’ve not passed my Spanish Course not only am I thankful I’m glad Jose was able to tutor me.
Jose is very patient when it comes to teaching/tutoring. He makes it a point for you to ask questions and ask for help if u are stuck or still not understanding the material you are studying. What I like about him even more is his willingness to go the extra mile to find materials for any student who is struggling. Trust Im speaking from experience!!
Very interested in seeing others sucssed and meet there goals! Jose has tutored me in spanish as well as English. Within a few weeks he helped me understand spanish from a diffrent approach and point of view all together. If you need someone who will teach you or even just help you meet your goals Jose is someone you might like as a tutor.
Extremely kind and helpful when it came to understanding Spanish. He helped me understand a lot of Spanish vocabulary and rules. I had a D close to an F when he began to tutor me, however, Jose began tutoring I imposed and passed my Spanish class with a solid B. I would highly recommend him.
