About Marnie
Marnie Thies Violin Lessons – Violin for Kids & Adults in the St. Paul Area Private violin instruction for children (5+) and adults. Lessons are held at 1795 Holton St, Suite 102, St. Paul, MN 55113. Online lessons are also available. Hi! I’m Marnie, a Suzuki-trained violin teacher (trained in all 10 books) with a Master’s Degree in Violin Performance, teaching since 2004. I provide private violin lessons for children and adults in the St. Paul area—including Falcon Heights, North Oaks, Mounds View, and surrounding communities. I welcome beginners through advanced students and specialize in making violin learning engaging, effective, and enjoyable. I have experience teaching students with autism, ADHD, and other neurodiverse learners.

Lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, interests, and learning style. I focus on technique, posture, tone, and musical expression from the very beginning. Each lesson covers technique and posture basics, Suzuki and traditional repertoire, sight reading, ear training, and personalized exercises for growth.
I blend the Suzuki philosophy with individualized strategies, especially for neurodiverse learners, including students with autism and ADHD. My goal is to build confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of violin through patient instruction and clear practice planning.
