About Jacqueline
Hi! My name is Jacqueline, but everyone calls me Jacqui or Jac! I am a literacy educator with eight years of experience supporting elementary students in reading, writing, and foundational math. I hold a Master’s degree in Literacy Education from Mount Saint Vincent University and specialize in helping students build strong literacy skills through clear, structured, and engaging instruction.
Over the years, I have worked closely with students who need extra support or confidence in their learning. My approach focuses on breaking skills down into manageable steps so that students can experience success and feel proud of their progress. I believe that every child can learn to read and thrive academically when given the right support, patience, and encouragement.
In addition to my teaching experience, I enjoy incorporating creative and visual strategies into my lessons to help make learning meaningful and engaging. My goal is always to create a positive, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, and celebrating their growth.

I offer supportive, individualized tutoring in reading and writing for elementary-aged students (typically ages 6–12). My goal is to help children not only improve their academic skills, but also build confidence and feel proud of their progress.
My teaching approach is structured, encouraging, and tailored to each child. I draw on evidence-based literacy practices, including structured literacy and visual learning strategies, to help students strengthen core reading and comprehension skills. I have spent the past eight years teaching remedial literacy and math, working closely with students who need extra support, patience, and clear step-by-step instruction.
A typical lesson begins with a quick game for an icebreaker and a review of skills we’ve been working on, followed by learning a new concept through clear instruction and interactive activities. Students then practice the skill through reading, writing, or hands-on problem solving. I often incorporate visual and creative elements to keep learning engaging and help ideas “stick.”
My lessons are ideal for elementary students who need extra support with reading, writing, or comprehension. Whether a child needs help catching up, strengthening skills, or building confidence, I aim to create a calm, encouraging learning space where students feel comfortable taking risks and celebrating their progress.
