About Ishani

I am Ishani from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India. I did my schooling at Loyola School and finished my graduation from Christ University in Human Resource Management. I have been teaching English for 1 year now, mainly in NGOs as part of social service. I love teaching students as it gives me satisfaction and happiness knowing I can impart my knowledge of the English Language to someone. It is my way to give back something to society. I don’t have a teaching certificate as of now, but I am planning to pursue a degree in teaching in the near future. However, since English is my first language, I have clear knowledge of grammar rules, thanks to my high school teachers. In my class 10 board exam, I had scored 95 percent in English.

About the lesson

My classes are conducted in accordance with the learning capabilities of my students. Each day, I start my class with 10 vocabulary words, and these words are not random lists to memorise, but a structured list of words prepared by breaking down root words. Unlike other classes, I use a Scientific Root-Word Method. Every day starts with 10 vocabulary words derived from a single root. For example: Learn the root "VOC" (to call) and instantly understand: Vocal, Advocate, Provoke, Equivocal, Revoke, and Vocation. You don't just "learn" English; you understand its DNA. Next, I move on to the Grammar part, which I usually teach using quizzes and sample sentences. Next, I start reading exercises which include current news articles or short stories. Finally, I ask my students to speak on any topic or review a book or a movie for 5 minutes each to improve their Spoken English and boost their confidence. After a week, I quiz on every subject. These make it easier for children to focus and learn in a fun way.
