About Dillon

When I studied acting professionally in New York City, we spent a big chunk of time on "Voice & Speech" and "Neutral American" classes as well as One on One coaching. This means my ear is very attuned to discerning sounds and accents and I'll be able to help you achieve a neutral American sound. (It's very important as an actor to have a "neutral" accent since, especially in TV and Film, a regional accent can be quite distracting if the character's regional background isn't important to the story.)

These classes and years of study endowed me with the knowledge I use to teach students from across the world to reduce their accent / acquire an American accent. I do want to note that the "neutral" accent commonly refers to what some Americans may see as a "suburban caucasian accent". One of the main things this means is that 'r's are not dropped or overly stressed (as happens in some regional southern American accents)

I, myself, am living and working in the US and auditioning for American parts as an actor. However, originally, I am from Europe and grew up bilingually (German & Czech). I grew up in Munich, Bavaria.

This also means that I know exactly how you feel. I've been in your shoes and let me tell you: it is possible to sound like a native speaker and it doesn't take a lifetime of work to master it. All it takes is dedication, hard work and a good teacher ;)

Before we start, I'll send you a brief text for you to record and send to me. This way, for our introductory lesson, we'll be able to work far more efficiently as I'll already have an idea of which sounds we get started on.

Let me lay out the typical curriculum for a beginner:
- basics of the phonetic alphabet
- sound drills
- tongue twisters
- regional American Accents (advanced)
- rhythm & intonation (advanced)

Recording yourself when practicing is the most important aspect of your progress. It'll teach your ear to listen for the right sounds. Most of the time, students aren't aware of which sounds they are doing right or wrong which can also result in thinking one is saying a sound wrong when in fact it is right. In either case, it is important to listen back to your own voice to recognize objectively if the sound was spoken correctly.

As part of your curriculum, you will receive Google Documents that go into detail for each sound. This will be paired with audio files so that you can listen to the words, phrases and sentences read out loud while you're practicing.

Please remember that before we schedule this free introductory lesson, I'll send you a brief text that you'll record and send to me. Afterwards, we'll schedule the lesson and I'll already have an idea of your accent patterns and the lesson will be far more efficient.

Lesson Schedules
My time teaching and my students' feedback as confirmed to me that meeting multiple times a week is the best way to go, especially if you're not surrounded by native American English speakers. This is why there are the two following weekly lesson structures:
- 2hour sessions twice per week
- 1hour sessions three times per week

Payment is for every 10 lessons (10x30€= 300€)

If you are preparing for a speech / presentation, you can do one-offs for 40€ per hour.
