About Shrida
Hi! My name is Shrida, and I am an Integrated Master’s degree (MEng Honours Civil Engineering) student at the University of Edinburgh. Having successfully completed my third-year engineering curriculum and having achieved A*AA at A level and 5A*s and 4As at GCSE, I have spent years mastering the exam frameworks you need to understand to succeed and I would love to pass the knowledge on!
Regarding my teaching style, I firmly believe that no student is bad at any subject. Our minds are capable of wonderful things, we each just need the information fed to us in our own ways. I have felt hopeless over many subjects throughout my academics as well. Most of the time, students are simply held back by rigid, over-complicated teaching styles that induce unnecessary exam anxiety. I became a tutor to bridge that gap. My goal is to make intimidating, abstract concepts feel completely logical, accessible, and straightforward. Having been through all these exams myself, I understand the immense pressure of upcoming entry, GCSE, A-Level, and Higher exams and exactly how it makes a student feel. I find nothing more rewarding than seeing the exact moment a frustrating topic finally clicks for a student, that feeling is something I can relate to to this day.

1. My Techniques & Teaching Methodology: I do not believe in rote memorisation or confusing students with rigid textbook theory. My approach is built on applied pattern recognition and conceptual confidence. I like to strip complex, intimidating mathematical and physics concepts down to their basic, logical foundations. Exams are won by understanding how a question is asked and so we analyse exam board marking schemes together, identifying specific keywords and step-by-step calculation formulae to secure maximum marks.
2. Typical Length of a Lesson: 60 to 90 minutes weekly. This allows enough time to thoroughly master a specific topic and execute a few exam-style problems. 2 hours can be arranged closer to exam diets for comprehensive mock run-throughs.
3. My Qualifications & Experience: I am currently completing my Integrated Master’s degree (MEng Honours Civil Engineering) at the University of Edinburgh, just completed 3rd year. I have achieved AAA* in A level Maths, Physics and Art alongside 5 A*s and 4 As at GCSE level. Recently I executed on-site engineering and mathematical logistics for a fast-paced £17M design-build industrial project abroad. I know exactly how school maths maps into real-world career success.
My lessons are tailored towards all primary and secondary school students, whether it is a secondary school entry exam or for GCSE, A-Level and Scottish Higher tracks.
