About Scott Michael

I'm a seasoned professional tutor with 20 years of hands-on experience both privately and in institutions here and worldwide. I've taught intensive Academic English programmes across four English universities, as well having operated as a language trainer and tutor in Japan, the Middle East, Continental Europe, and South America.

Language and continuous learning are lifelong passions, as testified by my own journey through postgraduate education and as a published writer. I am passionate about helping people to raise the level of their academic skill, language proficiency and all-round knowledge, for knowledge is a powerful weapon in the modern world.

About the lesson

I am a seasoned English trainer and academic skills tutor. Holding a strong academic record, TEFL certification, and over 20 years experience in the field, I offer the highest standards of professional tuition.

Sessions will be conducted online. Length-wise, experience dictates that 45-60mins per lesson is ideal. Specialising in adult learning from 18+. Academic skills and exam readiness for college entry . Professionals wishing to perfect their specialist vocational English also welcome to join. Will consider 16-18 years if attainment levels are already at a B1-B2 CEFR ability, and above.

In terms of techniques and pedagogy, 1-to-1 intensive tuition is a different dynamic to the classroom. With more time dedicated exclusively to the learner, you will be expected to come prepared with the materials you wish to share with me. A student-centred approach is preferred, with methodology levelled at setting achievable tasks and objectives, to be reviewed later.

Equally, you may set the pace and the agenda depending on how structured or how ad hoc your learning programme is. Diagnosing your learning needs from the outset is vital. Everything flows from there. Look forward to hearing from you.
