About Amelia

I'm a Mechanical Engineering graduate from the University of Southampton, and I've always loved Maths and problem-solving. I also know that Maths isn't everyone's favourite subject, and sometimes it can feel confusing or frustrating when things just don't click.

My approach is to keep lessons relaxed, approachable and tailored to you. I want to understand what you find difficult, figure out how you learn best and, hopefully, show you that Maths can actually be pretty interesting! Whether you're struggling with the basics or aiming to improve your exam results, we'll work through things step by step, practise plenty of questions and build your confidence along the way.

My goal isn't just to help you get better grades, but to help you understand the *why* behind the methods and maybe even enjoy Maths a little more. No question is a silly question, and we're here to learn!

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each student's individual needs, starting with an initial assessment of their current understanding, confidence and attitude towards Maths. I aim to identify any gaps in their knowledge, understand how they learn best and find ways to make the subject more engaging and enjoyable.

I believe practice is essential to mastering Maths, so lessons will combine clear explanations, step-by-step worked examples and plenty of guided and independent practice. I will incorporate exam-style questions where appropriate, while keeping the workload manageable and adapting the pace to suit each student.

Lessons will typically last 1.5 hours, allowing enough time to understand concepts, practise questions and review areas that need improvement. My rate is £20 per hour.

I hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southampton, which has given me a strong mathematical foundation. I also have volunteering experience in teaching, which has helped me appreciate the importance of patience, clear communication and adapting to different learners.

I am currently focusing on IGCSE Maths and lower secondary levels. My aim is to help students strengthen their foundations, build confidence and develop a more positive relationship with Maths.
