About Bengisu Zeynep

Hello, and thank you for visiting my profile!

I am an economics tutor with four years of experience helping students truly understand the subject, not just survive it. Over that time, I have tutored more than 50 AP Economics students who went on to score a 4 or 5 on their exams, and I have achieved similarly strong results with university students in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and game theory.

My teaching philosophy is simple: if you understand the logic behind economics, you do not need to memorize it. In my lessons, I guide you to think through the reasoning yourself, using real-life examples that make abstract theories concrete and memorable. This way, you will be prepared for questions you have never seen before, not just the ones you have practiced.

I also know that no two students learn the same way. I adapt my pace, explanations, and exercises to your strengths, your gaps, and your goals, so every session is focused on what will help you most.

Whether you are aiming for a top AP score, struggling with a university course, or simply curious about strategic thinking, I would be glad to help. Send me a message and let’s build a plan that works for you.

Teaching Method and Techniques

My approach is built on one principle: understanding beats memorization. Rather than handing students formulas and graphs to memorize, I push them to think through the logic behind economic ideas until they can reconstruct the reasoning themselves. I ask guiding questions instead of giving answers, have students predict what will happen before showing them the model, and connect every theory to real-life situations such as pricing decisions, labor markets, inflation, or everyday choices. When students see why a curve shifts or why a strategy is rational, the material sticks, and they can handle questions they have never seen before.

A Typical Lesson Plan

- Warm-up and review (5-10 min): The student explains the previous topic in their own words, which shows me what they actually retained.

- Real-world hook (10 min): We start with a current event or everyday scenario that raises the question the theory answers.

- Building the theory (25-30 min): Through guided questioning, we develop the concept step by step, working out the graph, equation, or game matrix together instead of me presenting it finished.

- Application and problem-solving (20-25 min): The student works through exam-style problems and explains each step aloud.

- Wrap-up (10 min): We summarize the key takeaway and agree on targeted practice for the next session.

What Sets Me Apart

I don’t use a one-size-fits-all method. Every student learns differently, so I adapt my pace, examples, and explanations to their needs, whether that means more visual work, more practice problems, or more conceptual discussion. I identify where each student’s understanding breaks down and design the lesson around that gap, so the time spent is always relevant to them.

Who the Lessons Are For

- AP Economics (Microeconomics and Macroeconomics): high school students preparing for the AP exams
- University-level Microeconomics and Macroeconomics: undergraduate students in introductory and intermediate courses
- Game Theory: students who want to understand strategic decision-making, from the fundamentals through more advanced concepts

Suitable for students who are struggling with the basics, aiming for top grades, or simply wanting a deeper understanding of how economics works.
