I work on discovering your methodology first. Many students learn best by example but many students also like to delve into the subject and understand its intricacies in theory. I like to start with a deep understanding of the theory, unravelling all its hidden layers, then foster the understanding by challenging problem solving tasks. Depending on the dominant mode of information processing I observe in a student, I might spend more time on theory than on problems or vice versa.
