About Alicia

Hello, I'm Alicia! I have been tutoring for the last 8 years where I have helped both college and high school students with math, introductory engineering, and physics courses. I have a bachelor’s degree in Math Education with a minor in Physics Education, and I studied Engineering for 3.5 years before switching to Education. After graduating, I worked as a high school math teacher for several years and loved watching students grow in confidence and enthusiasm for hard subjects. I love working with students one-on-one, especially people who don’t consider math/science to be their best subject. I get a thrill out of working together to find a way to understand a concept that works best for the student.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I strive to meet students where they are and help them grow in confidence and understanding. As strange as it may say, one of my favorite parts of tutoring is when a student doesn't understand a concept the first time I explain it. The problem solving part of my brain kicks in, and I love working with the student to find a way to explain a concept that clicks with them.

I have experience and love tutoring all of the following:
- All High School Math, Physics, and Engineering
- College Math (including prealgebra, algebra, trigonometry, geometry, precalculus, and calculus)
- Introductory College Engineering
- Introductory College Physics

Alicia is an amazing tutor. My daughter was really struggling in math and we were so lucky to find her. Alicia is patient, kind, supportive smart and really helped encourage and build my daughter’s confidence after she had already given up and decided she was bad at math. I HIGHLY recommend Alicia to everyone and we are very grateful to be able to continue tutoring with her this year! I think having that support at the beginning of the year before things get overwhelming will help my daughter have that confidence and really set her up for success.

Alicia is so good at teaching math! All 3 of my teenage kids have received help from Alicia. Not only is she super nice, but she can explain any complex math concept until her student understands. As for results: We’ve proven our kids ace their exams after a math session with Alicia! We sure appreciate it!

She taught the material in a way I understood and remembered. She never made me feel unintelligent and was also able to rebuild my confidence in the courses I was struggling with. With lots of hard work and help, I now finally have an A thanks to Alicia. She's the best!
