About Sophie
I have been on an accelerate math track since 5th grade and got 5s on both my Calculus AB and BC AP tests. I took AP statistics in high school and got a 4 on my exam. I could tutor in statistics, but would be more comfortable with calculus or algebra. I have completed Calculus III at Creighton University, so I will be able to tutor any level calculus. I have become the go-to helper on my floor at Creighton. My friends come to me with help, not only in math, but in all subjects. I often find myself helping my friends with courses I am not taking, and with post-labs for labs I haven’t had yet.

My tutoring method is to have the student explain the question or problem to me, then I look over the problem and see if they have any overarching problems with understanding the problem. If they do I will explain to them what their problem is and let them try again. If the problem is not with the question, I will ask them questions to try to help them understand how to start the problem. If that doesn’t work I will show them how to do the problem and have them explain back to me what I did. If I have to explain a whole topic, I use examples both to explain and to asses whether the student understands the topic or not.
