About Pedro
Through my experiences as a math tutor for refugee children, a python instructor aide for a nonprofit focused on bringing women from various marginalized backgrounds in computer science, and transferring to Princeton from my local community college, I've worked with a great range of students. Furthermore, through my research experiences and my own personal math blog, I have strengthened my math communication skills in the aim of making this great subject as accessible as possible.

I'm a recent Princeton grad who majored in mathematics. I would be thrilled to help people study areas of a discipline I sincerely love. In doing so, I would wish to cultivate a space where curiosity, exploration, and an understanding of "why" behind things would be encouraged. Please message me for any questions you might have, such as if I am able to tutor math areas outside of what I mention here.
I am available to provide lessons for the following: Calculus 1 up to Differential Equations, AP Calculus AB/BC, AP Precalc, University Level Statistics and Probability, AP Statistics, University Level Linear Algebra. Outside of these topics, I am also available to take students who in general wish to learn extra mathematics outside of their courses, where I am able to tailor lessons to their interests. You can also definitely send a message to me regarding tutoring even if it doesn't belong to the courses above, every student is different.
I believe that mathematics is not a spectator sport; the best way to learn math would be doing math. During lessons I try to take inspiration from the Oxbridge's Tutorial System and ask questions to get an understanding of students' reasoning. I also have a deep interest in the study of learning, particularly in mathematics, and I try to include these findings with my students in a personalized way, recognizing that every student and every lesson is different.
The priorities of the student will always come first.
I passionately aim to follow the axioms (fundamental rules) of Federico Ardila, a mathematician at San Francisco State University.
Axiom 1. Mathematical potential is equally present in different groups, irrespective of geographic, demographic, and economic boundaries.
Axiom 2. Everyone can have joyful, meaningful, and empowering mathematical experiences.
Axiom 3. Mathematics is a powerful, malleable tool that can be shaped and used differently by various communities to serve their needs.
