I believe that teaching math is more than just transferring facts and techniques for solving problems - it's about comprehension, about building understanding of the why and then the how, and gaining a view of the bigger picture of math. I want to prepare students to be able to use math in the future, in academic settings but also in their day-to-day lives.
I strive to build students' understanding of math and the related vocabulary through discussion and discourse. Since a lot of students are visual learners, I also personalize the lessons and make them engaging with the use of graphics and visual aids - after all, the more fun something is, the easier it is to learn!
