About Mary
I have a degree in theoretical physics and am currently studying for a Ph. D. in applied mathematics. I have tutored GCSE, A-level, and KS3 students in mathematics. My students have been able to approach their teachers about moving up a grade in school, as well as pass GCSE and A-level exams that they were worried about. I have worked with students one-on-one and in groups, and I value getting to know my student and their learning style so that I can best help with their specific needs.

I like to let students guide the lesson by telling me which areas they struggle with. We will try to work through example problems together and find strategies for solving problems and understanding concepts which may be challenging or not intuitive — as well as building confidence. Often students have a particular syllabus that they are working to, which I will research, and we will cover the hard points of this syllabus. If a student is in regular classes, we may also go over concepts they encountered which they struggled with in their most recent class, and tackle practice exams together.

For GCSE students the rate is £15/hour. For A-level students the rate is £18/hour. Students requiring tutoring for key stages below GCSE level the rate is £10/hour.
