Hello, I'm João, I'm a Mathematics student at the Federal Institute of São Paulo. In a class, one of my main goals is to build mathematical thinking in the student, and not just teach them to memorize formulas. By teaching students concepts, their learning autonomy is worked on and the content is strengthened in its most fundamental pillars. So, I try to teach the logical process behind problems, so that he can understand what he is doing, and, when alone, not only reproduce what he was taught, but build his own way to solve the problem.
Thus, in a normal class, I try to ask the student many questions, trying to encourage him to build a logical process that makes sense to him, so that he understands what that content means within the spectrum of mathematics and how it relates to others. previously viewed content.
Once this contact with the content has been made, we will also work on exercises, problems and challenges customized for each class. The exercises are intended to practice the raw content and trace the first doubts that may arise; problems, to exercise logical reasoning and deepen understanding even more, and, depending on the content, challenges and applications. Thus, the student learns through content, examples and practice. This methodology is especially good for students who have a lot of difficulty with math and believe they can't learn.
I believe that everyone can learn mathematics, even if at different rates, and I hope that my students end the class believing in their potential for growth.
