About Кирилл
My name is Kirill Gorshkov, and I am a mathematics tutor with a genuine passion for problem-solving and a deep belief that anyone can master math with the right approach. I grew up in Saint Petersburg, Russia, where I developed my love for mathematics through years of olympiad training and competition. From an early age, I was drawn to the elegance of logical thinking — the way a seemingly impossible problem unfolds into a series of simple, beautiful steps. That fascination led me to compete in national mathematics olympiads, including the International Olympiad in Mathematics "Phystech" from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and the Higher League Olympiad from the Higher School of Economics. While I did not always reach the final stages, each competition sharpened my mind and taught me that persistence matters more than raw talent.
My academic journey took an unexpected turn when I chose to study economics at Shenzhen MSU–BIT University, a joint venture between Moscow State University and Beijing Institute of Technology. Here, in the heart of China's economic powerhouse, I pursue a Bachelor of International Economics and Trade entirely in English. My GPA stands at 3.73 out of 4.0, with top marks in Calculus, Microeconomics, Python Programming, and other quantitative subjects. Living in Shenzhen since 2025 has given me a unique perspective — I see mathematics not as an abstract exercise, but as a tool that drives real markets, technologies, and global trade. Attending the Canton Fair in Guangzhou reinforced this belief, as I witnessed firsthand how data analysis and economic modeling shape international business decisions.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my olympiad background. Standard curricula often teach students to memorize formulas and follow templates. I teach them to think. When a student struggles with calculus or algebra, I do not simply repeat the textbook explanation. I break the problem into its fundamental components, ask the right questions, and guide the student to discover the solution themselves. This method builds confidence and independence — skills that extend far beyond any single exam.
I am currently preparing for my own future in graduate studies, with plans to pursue a master's degree in economics or finance. In the meantime, I am eager to help students in Sydney achieve their academic goals. Whether you are a high school student preparing for HSC Mathematics, a parent seeking an Extension 2 specialist, or a university student struggling with calculus or linear algebra, I am here to help. I offer a free trial lesson because I believe that trust and compatibility are essential to effective learning.
Beyond mathematics, I am an active participant in university life. I play table tennis and chess, follow Formula 1 for its strategic complexity, and play guitar in my free time. These pursuits keep my mind sharp and remind me that discipline and creativity go hand in hand — a lesson I bring into every tutoring session.
I look forward to working with you and showing you that mathematics, when taught with patience and insight, can be both approachable and deeply rewarding.
