About Cameron
Hi, I'm Cam! I'm a Mathematics student at the University of Colorado Boulder, also studying Computer Science, with a passion for making math click for students of all ages and skill levels.
I tutor K-12 and college students in a wide range of math subjects: from basic arithmetic and algebra all the way through calculus and differential equations. I offer both in-person and online sessions, so we can find whatever format works best for you.
My approach is patient, personalized, and focused on building real understanding, not just memorizing formulas. Every student learns differently, and I take the time to figure out what works for you.

- I believe that proper math education consists of three separate (but all important) sections: motivation, intuition, and rigor (in that order). Motivation answers the stereotypical "math question" of "why do we care?". Examining a given situation and showing why it's a problem we want to solve is a spectacular way to help get students to invest in learning the math to solve it. The next step of intuition helps show students how they can think about the math in their mind. This is the most "fun" part of math to me, because it enables students to use their imagination to think about concepts they wouldn't normally think about. It is also important because having intuition behind how a given concept "behaves" allows students to gather ideas on how to solve a certain problem. Finally, the rigor involves the mechanical processes for solving problems. In my opinion, this is basically the only step that is emphasized in the education system, which is why math can feel so dry and boring to many students.
- My lessons are typically divided into two sections: a learning/instructing section and a hands-on section. The first half of the lesson, we will mostly go over the motivation and intuition, and begin talking about rigor. In the second half, we will actually work through problems, and the focus will mostly be on rigor.
- I have many tutoring qualifications, as I have worked as a tutor for undergrad level calculus and differential equations for two years now. I have also worked for multiple semesters as a course assistant for multiple computer science classes, holding office hours and helping students understand difficult concepts. Finally, I have also been a course grader, which entails grading and providing detailed feedback to students taking difficult, upper-division math.
- I can teach all levels of math, including K-12, as well as any undergraduate course, including calculus 1, 2 and 3, linear algebra, differential equations, discrete math and more!
