About Paul
Graduated 2025 with a 2:1 in Aerospace Engineering. Achieved 3A*s and an A at A-level including Maths and Physics as well as 5A*s and 5 A's at GCSE. I have lots of experience working with young people, having been a prefect in school and teaching swimming to kids and young adults.
My student reviews back my approach of teaching how to understand the problem - something I think is far more important than memorising how to answer a question!
I am easy going and in my spare time, I take part in watersports, from competitive swimming to kayaking and scuba diving.

Meeting new people is hard and awkward! That's why our first lesson is free and will be slower paced, focused on getting to know each other. This helps you relax and me understand the content you may be struggling with and to create a plan to teach it in the clearest way.
I like to describe my typical lessons as 'discussions'. This just means that we'll chat while I ask you some thought-provoking questions so you can realise your understanding of the topic. This is a particularly effective method of 1:1 teaching called 'guided discovery'.
Aimed at A-level and GCSE students, I have a special eye for perspective and I often find ways to explain concepts in different ways which resonate with most people. Typical lessons are 1 hour long but I am flexible with timing. A* at GCSE mathematics and further mathematics A* at A-Level mathematics.
Achieved a 2:1 in Masters of Aerospace Engineering at Queen's University Belfast 2025.

Perfect! Paul is excellent very encouraging and engaging with ruari
Perfect! Paul was punctual, well-prepared, and immediately put my son at ease during their first lesson. He introduced the topic of Motion in a clear and engaging way, making it easy to follow and understand. His patient, encouraging approach ensures that my son never feels rushed or overwhelmed, and instead develops genuine curiosity and enthusiasm. We’re already looking forward to the next session!
- Sharon's son is a keen learner and requested for these tutorial lessons himself. He listens well and clearly puts a lot of thought into his answers before responding to any questions.Paul's response :
Perfect! Paul is an excellent tutor. He has a very hands on approach and focuses on understanding not rote learning. He had excellent maths and physics knowledge having studied these for his A levels(and done very very well!) as well as in Uni.
He’s also a nice guy and it was easy for my son and him to get along.- Mark's son has a natural aptitude for maths and physics, making him a joy to work with. He listens well and his hardworking spirit is complimented by his good organisation.Paul's response :

I’ve worked with Paul for a while, and he's been a huge help with my GCSE physics. He explains things clearly and doesn’t rush through problems, which made topics I struggled with finally make sense. He's patient, reliable, and genuinely good at teaching. I’d definitely recommend him to anyone who needs extra help with physics.
Paul is an excellent tutor. He helped my daughter achieve a great result in GCSE Mathematics. His knowledge
and his approachable manner helped my daughter have a deeper understanding of the subject, giving her the confidence for her exams. I would highly recommend him.Paul is THE smartest person I know and has had no problem with making me understand difficult topics such as differentiation when revising together
