About Pooja

I’m a university student - I am studying MSci Chemistry at Imperial College London.

I have always loved and enjoyed teaching other students, passing on my knowledge to them and helping them to excel in their studies. I am an experienced tutor.

I regularly tutor my siblings. I teach them maths and the sciences. I teach them online via Zoom.

I have also taught younger students, at my school, as a student ambassador during my years in sixth form.

I have been doing online lessons with students, for the subjects maths, biology, chemistry, physics and English, via First Tutors for 1 year and 9 months.

About the lesson

I first thoroughly go through topics’ content, instructing the students to write notes as I teach the content. I tell them to especially include any equations and formulae in their notes.

Then, I go through how to answer exam questions testing the knowledge of the topics I have taught. I model to the students how to write excellent answers to the questions that would be awarded the maximum number of marks.

After this, I give the students exam questions, testing the knowledge of the topics I have taught, to answer independently using their knowledge of the topics’ content based on the content I’ve taught them as well as the exam question answering techniques and methods I have shown them. I then mark their answers and give them detailed feedback on their work, describing what they did well and what they didn’t do so well and must improve. If any students require any further help with the areas they need to work on, I do sessions with them during which I re-teach any content they may have forgotten or not fully understood the first time I taught it and I go through efficient exam question answering methods again with them.

All the students I have taught have been very happy with my teaching method and have reported to me that their maths, sciences and English test scores have hugely improved as a result of my tutoring. They have all given me very positive feedback on my teaching.
