  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

The world is full of numbers. Every single activity that you do is linked with numbers in a certain way. When you start looking at objects around you, you think about their shape, size, and many more. What can actually deal with this? Maths is the only one. It is the KING of all subjects. Right from my childhood, I have started developing a passion for Mathematics as it used to solve all my problems. Whether it is related to helping my father in calculating household expenses or whether it is solving problems in exams, everything became simple because of Mathematics. I started to develop a strong interest in Maths by connecting all the practical aspects with numbers.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

Since childhood, I always used to solve Mathematics problems in the simplest way. This may be due to my strong passion and interest in mathematics and numbers. During school and college, I realized many of my friends are not able to solve Mathematics problems as quickly as I was doing. I then realized that they are not able to understand the concepts which were being taught in the school/college. All of them used to come to me and understand the concepts very easily. This motivated me to develop new teaching methods and make concepts very clear for all my friends. In this way, I developed new methods of teaching that will help any student to understand even the most difficult concepts in the easiest way.
  • How does your work help society?

My work and teaching methods will help students to solve any Mathematical problem in the simplest way. Whatever I teach is not just confined to the walls of a textbook. I would help the student to explore the world around him/her and connect it with numbers. Every problem can be solved if you are able to quantify it with numbers. So, I'm making warriors who can play with numbers and protect society with their Mathematical knowledge.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

Without any hesitation, I would say it is Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam. I remember one of his quotes that says -"The youth need to be enabled to become job generators from job seekers" This quote always reminds me that one needs to be very strong with fundamentals and that will eventually help them to stand on their own rather than waiting for somebody to give jobs to them.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

I am a software professional turned MBA graduate who loves working with data. This enabled me to develop a strong interest in Artificial Intelligence.I love working on data. On the other side, I love traveling and trekking.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

It was 2011! I still remember some of my close friends flunked in one subject. Some of them struggled to pass in it as they couldn't understand the subject. Some couldn't pass as they used to bunk classes. They just had one week for the re-examination. I still remember teaching them all the difficult concepts in just 2 days and they came out with flying colours. This is the power of teaching with empathy. You cannot teach students with the same traditional methods or teaching style. The teaching style needs to be adapted according to the student and I call this as"Empathetic Teaching".
