About Remi
My passion for mathematics began early, driven by an appreciation for how numbers and patterns reveal structure in the world. That curiosity eventually led me to complete a B.Sc in Applied Mathematics and dedicate over 10 years to teaching learners at many different levels. Throughout my career, I have learned that creating a warm, patient, and encouraging environment is essential for student success. Many students come to me feeling unsure, and I take pride in helping them discover that they are capable of far more than they believe. I have taught students beginning with the basics of elementary school math, progressing through middle school math, and moving into more advanced topics like algebra, geometry, and SAT math preparation. My teaching style blends calm explanation, visual tools, and guided practice. I focus not only on the “how” behind a method but also the “why,” so students develop deep, lasting understanding rather than temporary memorization. I value open communication and always encourage learners to express confusion without hesitation. Outside teaching, I enjoy studying educational psychology, solving mathematical puzzles, and staying updated on new instructional practices. I regularly explore new ways to explain concepts so I can bring clearer, more effective lessons to students. Teaching mathematics brings me enormous joy because I get to witness learners develop confidence, curiosity, and self-belief—skills that extend far beyond the classroom. Helping students grow into empowered thinkers is one of the greatest rewards of my work.

Mathematics becomes far more manageable when students are guided through concepts with clarity, patience, and steady encouragement. My lessons begin by supporting learners through elementary school math, where we revisit essential number concepts, early operations, fractions, and foundational reasoning. I use simple visual models, gentle explanations, and relatable examples to ensure students feel confident and grounded. As students develop comfort, we move into slightly deeper reasoning patterns, promoting curiosity and helping them view mathematics not as a barrier but as an achievable and meaningful subject.
Once students are secure with essentials, we begin exploring middle school math topics such as ratios, basic algebraic expressions, introductory geometry, and problem interpretation. I guide students step-by-step through these transitions, helping them build structured thinking and the ability to recognize patterns. Learners practice simplifying expressions, working with shapes, interpreting diagrams, and constructing logical steps that lead them toward full independence. This stage encourages both confidence and analytical growth.
For advanced learners, we move into deeper algebra, multi-step reasoning, coordinate geometry, and dedicated SAT math preparation. Students practice dissecting word problems, planning efficient strategies, managing time, and applying logic under pressure. My goal is to help them become calm, confident, and strong thinkers. Through structured guidance, collaborative reasoning, and supportive correction, students gain both mathematical skill and emotional resilience that carries into every part of their academic life.
