About Caroline

As a dedicated homeschooling mum and former founder of Blooms Tutors, I bring over 12 years of tutoring expertise across Australia and South Africa. Blooms Tutors was run for 6 years, employing 40+ tutors and helping students across Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast until being sold to an investor.

I offer a wealth of knowledge in subjects from primary to high school specialising in Maths Methods and General Maths for senior years. I offer personalized lessons tailored to your unique needs, where we tackle difficult topics together and build your confidence.

My flexible, one-on-one approach ensures that you not only understand the material but also enjoy the learning journey. Many students have thrived under my guidance, staying with me throughout their high school years.

I look forward to hearing from you!

**NOTE: due to high levels of enquiries for maths tutoring this year, I have decided to run sessions in a small group setting for years 11 and 12. Separate groups will be held for General and Methods students. Groups will be limited to 3, or at most 4 students, and will cover relevant topics for senior units 1, 2, 3 and 4; preparation for IA's; and preparation for the final external exam.**

  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

In high school, I was always good with numbers. Accounting had rules and an easy flow to it, so naturally I enjoyed it. I wrestled between studying Accounting or Psychology when I was deciding on a uni degree, but ultimately decided to go with my strengths. I took up a part-time student job tutoring students while I was at uni and loved it. I love the personal one-on-one approach and find such joy in seeing my students come to life when things begin to click!
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

Accounting doesn't click straight away for everyone. I have many students come to me feeling very overwhelmed with the course and not even knowing where to start to unravel it all. But I have found with a few sessions on basics, things start to clear, and we can usually move on quite easily. I can't pick a favourite or least favourite topic as Accounting is all different facets of the similar things ;)
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

My high school Accounting teacher was also my athletics coach. He was so confident and charismatic. He knew how to connect with his students, encourage us where we needed to be encouraged, and hold us accountable when we acted a little less mature than we should have! I've forgotten many of my old teachers, but I've never forgotten him.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

After receiving feedback from many of my past students, I have come to the conclusion that the most important quality required of a good tutor is to be genuine in their care of their students. Tutoring isn't just a job, its personal. You become part of a family and walk together with students through very impactful periods of their lives. On top of that, tutors must always be learning and developing their skills and teaching methods and keeping up to date with subject changes. Knowledgeable, yet relatable.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

This is not my own story, but far more interesting than anything I could offer! My father did an accounting internship while he was at uni around 50 years ago. He was called into his manager's office to discuss some data he had captured which had led to some very concerning results. When he reviewed his work, he realised he has either left off or added an extra zero to one of the main amounts. My father laughed it off as a small little error. The manager however was not humoured by the mistake. Zero's matter!
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?

This is a difficult question to answer. Probably one of the biggest challenges I face would be students calling in at the last minute when they are desperate for help to prepare for an exam. Preparation and mastering of subjects take time, so the challenge is to first get to know the way the student thinks, and then prioritise subject material to get the most value in a short period of time.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

I love people. Whether its teaching, listening to, helping, or just chatting. I love people. I think that's part of what I love about being a personal tutor is the vast array of students I meet and get to know. From mid-primary school right through to retirees updating their skill set. I sat towards the end of 2025 thinking about the privilege I had of walking with some amazing year 12s through one of the most important season's of their lives to date. What a gift! And to see them on the other side, achievement in hand, is one of the most rewarding things.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions)?

This is not a question I love to answer! However, as I must - I have a lot of passion in what I do. I don't believe in doing anything except with excellence. If I don't know, I will find out. I have built up a lot of knowledge and experience in the years I have been tutoring and I can usually adapt quite easily to each student's personality and needs. Besides that, I genuinely love my students and so far, it all seems to be working quite well :)
