About Derek
I'm Derek Grant, an MBA graduate from the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University, currently pursuing the CFA designation. I work as a financial consultant, building forecasting models, valuation analyses, and automated reporting dashboards for clients. Before moving into finance, I spent 10+ years in recruitment across Canada, the US, and Europe, which shaped how I teach: clear explanations, structured practice, and honest feedback. I tutor because finance rewards clear thinking over memorization.

I help MBA and undergraduate students master financial modeling, DCF valuation, and business analytics — the subjects students most often find opaque until someone builds the model with them step by step. Sessions are hands-on: we work through real problems together, line by line, so you leave able to rebuild the analysis on your own — for class, exams, and interviews. Subjects include corporate finance fundamentals (NPV, IRR, cost of capital), driver-based three-statement models, DCF and WACC valuation, scenario and Monte Carlo analysis, and Excel/VBA for finance. Online sessions are $55/hour; in-person in Toronto $65/hour. Evenings and weekends.
