About Ed
Alongside studying Mechanical Engineering, I have several years of experience teaching watersports to people of all ages and abilities. This has given me plenty of experience explaining new and sometimes challenging concepts in a simple, patient and approachable way.
I have a strong interest in design and practical engineering, with experience in CAD, 3D printing, electronics and hands-on engineering projects. I particularly enjoy taking an idea from an initial design through to making and testing it, which is something I hope to bring into my tutoring.
I’m friendly and easy-going, and my aim is to make students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence in Design & Technology and Engineering.

My approach is to make technical topics easy to understand by breaking them down step-by-step and relating the theory to real engineering and design examples. I can help with exam preparation, coursework, design processes, CAD, materials, manufacturing, mechanics and technical problem-solving.
Lessons are typically around an hour and can focus on specific areas you’re struggling with, coursework support, or structured revision towards exams. I aim to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and actually understand why something works rather than simply memorising an answer.
