About Osborn
My name is Osborn Berko, I am a 4th year medical student, an electrical engineer, and I have worked for several years as a software developer at tech firms. My passion for math, physics, chemistry, and science extends beyond my own studies and career and into helping others succeed academically.
I'm a relatable and caring tutor with over 3 years of professional tutoring experience and many more years of informal tutoring before that. I have worked with students from middle school to college and adult learners, focusing on breaking large and difficult concepts into small, achievable steps that build confidence and understanding.
Because I am still a student myself, I haven't lost that perspective. I understand how we at times just want to pass an exam without fully understanding the topic, or being frustrated from wanting to understand but feeling incapable or overwhelmed. These issues build up and what deteriorates is our confidence in ourselves. And from my years of experience confidence is key. A student's confidence pushes them to keep trying or to quit early.
My goal is to help students build both skill and confidence so they can continue improving independently.
I enjoy working closely with students, understanding their strengths and weaknesses alongside with them. Equipping them with the tools to solve problems and pass exams while knowing that sometimes understanding comes immediately and other times it takes more time, experience and patience. Hence why practicing with multiple and various problems attuned specifically for the student's level is essential.
If you're willing, take a free lesson with me and hopefully you'll be pleased enough to have us learn and grow together.

I aim to make large, overwhelming concepts easier by breaking them down into small, attainable steps that help students stay confident and empowered. I believe that when students feel confident and capable, they are more likely to take initiative and become active participants in their own learning.
To achieve this, I focus on creating a comfortable and supportive learning environment, intentionally building the student's confidence, and challenging the student at their level so they can grow without feeling overwhelmed or discouraged.
A typical lesson consists of:
- Spending the first few minutes warming up, talking, and helping the student feel relaxed and comfortable.
- Introducing the topic and first understanding what the student already knows, then building on that knowledge using small, personalized, attainable steps. The same approach is used when starting a completely new subject.
- Practicing with examples that progress from easy to intermediate to harder questions, always choosing problems appropriate for the student’s specific level — not too easy that it becomes boring, and not too difficult that it becomes discouraging, but just challenging enough to promote growth and understanding.
One of the most rewarding parts of teaching this way is the result of when a student makes a mistake, they are eager to learn the correction because they feel they were close to getting it right. At that point, the student is no longer just being taught — they are taking initiative and actively participating in their own education.

Osborn helped me so much during my high-school and college years! I went from failing to passing with beautiful colors. He really helped me feel confident in myself even for future challenges.
Osborn is helping me with math. I’m a grade eleven student and his methods of teaching are very helpful and straight forward. He spends the necessary time with you and accommodates for you depending on your strengths and weaknesses. He’s also very friendly and easy to get along with. Overall I’d give him five stars.
Osborn is an amazing private teacher. I’ve been using his services for my 16 year old brother prepping for SAT Math and I’ve seen a noticeable increase in his confidence. We had a math tutor in the past and unfortunately it wasn’t helping. Thanks Osborn, you’ve been such a stress relief!
