About Geraint

I am a first class student of Medieval History who arrived at University to study Geography. I have a range of experience taking modules in Geography, Earth Science, Ancient History, Medieval History and Archaeology. For the last two years my focus has been on Medieval History, particularly socio-cultural histories and how these interface with the historic environment.

About the lesson

I am offering tuition for students of secondary School age. Whilst it is often tempting to think about history’s key skill as being able to recall key dates and kings, being able to work with limited information to form careful and nuanced arguments is the heart of the discipline. My methodology is about helping students structure arguments about the past, read sources appropriately and carefully, and pull apart the smallest details which reveal whole systems. I struggled with history in school, and ended up not taking it to A-Level, largely because during classes there was very limited time to develop these skills. My focus as a tutor will be to help foster these key skills.

Geraint is one of the best people to have as your tutor. I have known him since first year at University. He is empathetic, knowledgeable and takes time to ensure that you really understand the subject he is discussing. I couldn’t recommend him highly enough.

I met Geraint 3 years ago when he was the Treasurer of a university society of which I was a member. I am a mother of two children and had returned to university for postgraduate study. My first impression of Geraint was that he was polite, self-composed, conscientious, and sincere. As I got to know him, I learned that he is also witty, good-natured, very intelligent, organised, fun to be around, and trusted by all who know him. Geraint is an asset to whatever he is a part of. I recommend him wholeheartedly.

Geraint's knowledge of History and Geography is fantastic. More than this, he understands how best to convey ideas and answers. He's the best person to tutor people - friendly and understanding.
