About James
I am a 27 year old Master Mariner from Wiltshire. I have a FdSc in Nautical Science and am currently enrolled in a BSc (Hons) programme with the University of Plymouth in Sustainable Maritime Operations. Navigation is a branch of mathematics and as such I consider myself suited to assisting school children with their maths studies. I achieved a B grade in A-level Mathematics and an A grade at GCSE as well as two A's in Statistics. I can assist all age groups upto GCSE level, in particular preparation for 11+ exams.

I bring an enthusiastic approach to mathematics based on a practical background of using mathematics in my day to day job, as well as studying it academically. I hope I can create a positive relationship with my students, particularly by showing them how maths can help them in their day to day lives, both as a child and in adulthood. Happy to teach in groups or individually. Can also give informal free career advice.
