About Erik

I am a PhD researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a university instructor with a background in architecture, landscape architecture, history, and interdisciplinary research. Throughout my academic and professional career, writing has been central to my work—from research papers and grant applications to design critiques, presentations, and scholarly writing.

I enjoy helping students develop clear ideas, stronger arguments, and greater confidence in their writing. Whether you're preparing a college application essay, revising a research paper, outlining a thesis, or polishing a final draft, I aim to help you communicate your ideas thoughtfully and effectively.

My approach emphasizes organization, critical thinking, and revision—not simply correcting grammar, but helping you become a more capable and confident writer.

About the lesson

Every lesson is tailored to your goals and the stage of the writing process you're in. Some students come with an assignment and need help getting started; others have a complete draft that would benefit from thoughtful feedback, editing, or proofreading. Together, we'll clarify your ideas, strengthen your structure, and refine your writing while preserving your own voice.

I can help with:

-College application and admissions essays
-Academic essays and research papers
-Thesis planning and revision
-Editing and proofreading
-Test preparation that includes written responses
-Developing stronger organization, argumentation, and style

Whether you're a high school student preparing college applications, an undergraduate tackling a challenging paper, or an adult learner returning to school, lessons are adapted to your experience, objectives, and learning style.
