About Vincent

Contrary to what S. de Beauvoir said about women, I did not become a teacher; I have always been. Schoolboy, my essays, in class, were read, high school student, I was already helping my classmates to compose; after my studies in modern literature at the Sorbonne, I still assisted doctoral students in the writing of their thesis: I am a specialist in writing and text commentary (I participated in the creation of many books, as a English editor and translator). I spent most of my career teaching in college and high school, sometimes in prestigious establishments, sometimes in ZEP; I write, I compose: I do not attach much importance to diplomas, to medals: only the pleasure of reading, of hearing and of understanding guides me. As Ch. Bobin wrote, “I don't like those who know, I like those who love”.

My methodology is based on the experience acquired and the rapid understanding of the difficulties of others.
Rather than using big words about my "method", I prefer to say that it is smiley (and a little scholarly, too).
First aspect: it is a question of de-dramatizing the difficulties, and showing that they are due, most often, only to a few small "blockages", or preconceived ideas, that it is a question of patiently deconstructing, and reduce to simpler operations of the mind, which are those of "common sense", capital in French.
Secondly, I try to guide the learner towards the discernment and analysis of what is salient, carrier or creator of meaning (the thematic focus is one of my specialties).
I attach a lot of importance to the third point, which consists in showing that to be a teacher, one is nonetheless, and always, a perpetual learner: in class, I do not hide my possible shortcomings. On the contrary, I try to make it a strength, and I show others how I learn when I do not know (this practice is essential, because it engages, through the example of the master, the future autonomy of the teacher. 'Student).
Finally, rather than seeking sterile "rigor", I endeavor to establish, on the subject of the literary object studied, surprising or subtle relationships - between works and authors, for example - and I favors intertextuality as well as vocabulary resources, a way of bringing to life, in the eyes of the students, the culture and knowledge of French letters, always seeking to link them through a smile, the pleasure of learning and astonishment: when I teach, I try to make people feel that all this is just a game, quite fun, after all, because it engages curiosity, the mind and the emotions.
