About Michael
I am currently completing an MSc in Development Economics at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, having previously studied Economics at the University of Nottingham. Much of my academic work involves mathematical modelling and careful analytical reasoning, and I’ve always enjoyed the process of breaking complex ideas down into something clearer and more manageable.
I began tutoring because I remember how easily subjects like Maths can feel discouraging when they are rushed or taught without explanation. I’m particularly interested in helping students move from feeling unsure to feeling capable. Often, that shift comes simply from slowing down and working through the logic step by step.
Outside of my studies, I enjoy music, particularly jazz and rock, and I spend time playing guitar and piano (more enthusiastically than expertly). I’m also a keen football fan and enjoy intense, strategy-oriented sports, which perhaps explains my appreciation for structured thinking and problem-solving

I know that Maths and Economics are often taught in a way that can feel mechanical or overwhelming. Many students end up memorising steps without really understanding why they work, and that can quickly make the subject feel frustrating or unrewarding. My aim is to change that.
As an MSc Economics student at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, I work with quantitative models every day, and I’ve learned that clarity often comes from understanding the logic underneath the method. In our lessons, there will be a focus on building that understanding step by step breaking problems down, asking the right questions, and making sure each idea makes sense before moving on.
Whether you’re preparing for GCSEs, A-Levels, or working through university material, lessons are tailored to your level and goals. I place particular emphasis on exam technique, structured reasoning, and building confidence, so that you feel more in control of the subject rather than intimidated by it.
My goal is not only to improve grades, but to help students find the subject more coherent, and ideally, more enjoyable than it may have felt in the classroom!
