About Dhaval
My name is Dhaval Sharma. I am currently a Computer Science teacher in London. I was previously a BSc Natural Sciences student, specialising in Physics and Mathematics and Statistics, and then and I studied MSc Physics at KCL. During school, I wished to expand on my curiosity of the natural world, from the very small - the quantum world - to astrophysics. I explored Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics at depth in A-Levels, which led me to appreciate their interconnectedness. I have had experience in teaching students in common entrance examinations such as the UKCAT and the BMAT, GCSE and A-Level Science subjects. With the company MedicMind, I have tutored over 20 students over the past 1.5 years with a high success rate, which included many students from prestigious independent schools across the country. I attained excellence in my GCSE examinations across my subjects, and succeeded in my A-Levels to attain a position at a prestigious university. I aim to utilise my experiences in exam technique, revision styles, note making and preparation in aiding students to attain success in their exams! Being young myself provides me with a benefit into seeking the best out of my tutees. My current and previous experience in exams means that I know exactly what the exam boards are looking for and can tailor every student to their needs. At university, I was actively involved in the Climate Action Society - the largest active society at UCL and the Hindu Society - the largest cultural society at UCL.

Firstly, I will enable students to express their difficulties in understanding a concept or topic area, which will be worked on. I aim to provide a student-oriented approach, interspersed with opportunities to practice exam questions to consolidate their learning. When I start a topic area with a student, I will go through the following: the content and its understanding, exam style questions, feedback and consolidation of key points needed for the exam. Having followed such an approach at both GCSE and A-Level has been beneficial to my success. I will keep a note of the strengths and points of improvement for the student. After a few lessons, I will plan to have a review session in which I can re-assess the student to develop their understanding further. In my experience of preparing for exams, I have realised the importance of note-making and practising exam questions. I will aim to provide revision aids throughout the sessions, such as short notes I have compiled myself, as an aid - not a substitute - for revision. During revision season, I found the usage of mark schemes to be very useful in understanding what the exam boards ideally require. Hence, after testing students, I will go through model answers that the students should apply in their approaches to exam questions.
