About Tessa
I am a Physics tutor with over 4 years of experience and an MPhil in Physics. My approach combines a deep understanding of physics with a passion for art and cultural heritage. I focus on how light interacts with pigments, the physical properties of materials, and the principles of conservation science. Using art historical examples, I help students explore the science behind masterpieces. Non-destructive testing methods are central to my teaching, showing how physics can analyse and preserve artworks without causing harm. I guide students through the study of materials, helping them understand ageing processes and restoration techniques. My students include art history scholars, conservationists, and anyone curious about the intersection of science and art. I emphasise hands-on learning and real-world applications whenever possible. Each lesson highlights how physics informs the understanding and preservation of cultural artefacts. I enjoy making complex scientific concepts accessible and relevant. Through my teaching, students gain both technical knowledge and appreciation for art. My goal is to inspire curiosity and interdisciplinary thinking. Together, we explore how physics can protect and reveal the beauty of artistic masterpieces.

My teaching approach focuses on helping students truly understand Physics and excel in exams. I cover key areas such as mechanics, electricity and magnetism, thermodynamics, waves, optics, and modern physics. Special attention is given to AP Physics test preparation, concept review, problem-solving techniques, and exam strategies. I use targeted drills and practice tests to help students identify their strengths and areas that need improvement. Each session is tailored to the student’s pace and learning style, ensuring they grasp even the most challenging concepts. I emphasise building strong mathematical skills to solve physics problems confidently. Real-world examples and visual demonstrations are often used to make abstract ideas more relatable. I encourage students to ask questions and explore ideas without hesitation. Step by step, I guide them through complex problems, ensuring they develop critical thinking. Regular practice and strategic revision are key parts of my method. I also focus on boosting confidence so students can perform their best on exam day. With consistent support and encouragement, students gain both knowledge and self-assurance. The goal is not just high scores but a deep understanding of Physics that lasts. Together, we work to unlock potential and achieve academic success.
