About Laura
I am a recent graduate of Nottingham Trent University achieving First-Class Honours in BSc Forensic Biology (Molecular Biology) and will be starting Master's study in Microbiology and Immunology in September. I have helped many coursemates achieve the grades needed to graduate this year, as well as tutored several family friends in A-Level Biology, all of whom passed with grades C and above. I have a wide variety of experience in many biological fields including Microbiology, Immunology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Food Science and Toxicology.

I prefer to teach by starting with the bare basics, then building on that knowledge further by teaching about increasingly more complex theories and ideas while linking it back to concepts already covered or understood. I'm a big fan of mind maps and visual and interactive learning, and while making notes are important and useful I find that it's more efficient and more memorable to present information in a colourful, clear and concise manner and discuss personal interpretations on the given information. My teaching method often involves developing mind maps and exploring branches within the maps, going into more complex information as the branches move outwards. As fabulous as textbooks, teachers and lecturers are at providing the information for exams or coursework, sometimes information is best understood when it's in your own words, which is why I often spend time making sure we discuss new information so that you can put it in a way that makes it easier for you to memorise and understand.

Please be aware that during the day I spend a lot of time in Category One and Category Two containment labs and for health and safety reasons will not be able to access or use my phone during these times. For this reason if you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please provide 18 - 24 hours notice if possible. Cancellations within 3 hours of the lesson time may be charged a £2 cancellation fee depending on the circumstances of the cancellation, any cancellation more than 3 hours before the lesson time will not be charged.
