About Lola
Lola began pursuing a degree at the University of Otago (Ōtepoti Dunedin, New Zealand) in 2020, where she received a scholarship to study Music and Mathematics, with Composition and Contemporary Vocal Performance as her music majors. These studies combined her interests in science and art. After the COVID-19 pandemic, Lola moved to Auckland, where she consolidated her studies to a Bachelor of Music specialising in Composition.
Since her move to New Zealand in 2019, Lola has connected with the local creative community, working to organise and participate in events across music, writing, and intermedia performing arts.
Lola's own music draws on personal experience and the natural climate, and she strives to produce work that asks wider questions of the world and its environmental concerns. Her work has been featured at poetry/music events alongside Bill Direen, David Eggleton, Diane Brown, and others, and in online and print anthologies in New Zealand and overseas.

Experienced tutor teaching vocal performance, fingerstyle guitar, and music theory. Improve your understanding of theoretical techniques while honing your practice and exploring your creative voice.
With a classical background in theory and instrumental practice, Lola structures private lessons to provide a balance of theoretical and practical training. In 2023-24, Lola worked as a one-on-one instructor in singing and fingerstyle guitar for an Auckland music school, and she runs independent lessons as well as group-based workshops in vocal performance and fingerstyle guitar.
As the original human instrument, our voice can be the most natural thing to learn to use, but also the most daunting, regardless of skill level. In a world rife with distractions, music can provide solace for many of us. Learning to use our voice can ground us in the physical world, while also connecting us to the realm of art.
Lesson length varies depending on age and experience. ONLINE ONLY for term 3 2025.

Perfect! Lola has done a wonderful job tutoring my 7 year old daughter in singing and general music theory. She is methodical, structured, and above all very patient, working hard to ensure my daughter receives constructive but honest feedback. She has also sparked a real interest in music theory in her which was an unexpected bonus! I recommend Lola wholeheartedly - she's excellent.
