About John
I am a guitar teacher, with more than 30 years of experience in the field of teaching music. In 1977, I completed my BA degree with Unisa and in 1984 I earned my Diploma in modern music. I have been running my own music business, called Music School South Africa, since 1986. I teach music ranging from: piano, bass guitar, banjo, ukelele and singing. However, I specialize in teaching guitar. I am a specialist in teaching guitar styles from fingerstyles and lead guitar to flamenco, classical, blues, jazz, electric, acoustic to bass guitar. From beginners level to advanced.

My name is John Gerritsen, I am a professional music teacher with more than 30 years of experience. I teach many styles of music (namely fingerstyles and leadguitar, flamenco, classical, blues, acoustic, electric, jazz and bass guitar). I teach pupils on an individual basis, from beginner's to advanced levels. I first find out what the need of the pupil is, and then teach them techniques, songs, chords and music theory needed for their styles. I teach formal lessons with exams (should the student wish for that). My lessons are practical, and I spend time ensuring that the student understands and knows how to apply all the principles and technique involved.
