About Jake

I hold a BMus (Hons) in Piano Performance from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. I have also completed multiple safeguarding and child-protection training modules.

I am passionate about enabling my students to access and understand music, unlocking for them the many benefits that music can bring to one’s life. During my studies I have completed multiple pedagogy modules and placements giving me a strong understanding of how people learn. I have since continued to teach a broad range of students and now have over 5 years of experience helping students to achieve their music theory goals.

About the lesson

I tailor every lesson to the individual student, helping them achieve their personal goals in a way that suits their learning style and interests.

My approach is collaborative and student-centred. I encourage students to actively engage with the material and develop their own understanding, rather than simply memorising information. This helps them build confidence and become more independent in their learning.

Lessons are usually 1 hour long and are suitable for students working towards ABRSM Theory exams up to around Grade 5, as well as students who simply want to improve their theoretical knowledge for their own musical goals.
