About Chris
My name is Chris, and I am an experienced ESL teacher with over 17 years of teaching in schools, universities, and community programs. I hold a Master of Science in Curriculum Design & Instructional Technologies from SUNY Albany, where I specialized in cultural diversity and contextualized teaching, and a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education and French from Le Moyne College. I also studied abroad in Québec, which deepened my understanding of language learning from the student perspective. Throughout my career, I have worked with learners of all ages and backgrounds—from children beginning their first words in English to adults preparing for academic study or advancing in their careers. I have designed ESL curricula for K-12, adult education, workplace English, and literacy-level learners, always focusing on practical communication and building confidence. My teaching style is student-centered and adaptive. I use real-life topics, interactive activities, and supportive guidance to make lessons meaningful and effective. I believe every student can succeed with the right encouragement and personalized approach. Outside of teaching, I enjoy history, writing, gardening, and spending time with my family. These passions often find their way into my lessons, creating an engaging and creative learning environment.

My lessons are designed to be interactive, practical, and personalized to each student’s needs. I believe that learning English should be an enjoyable process that connects directly to your goals and interests. In our lessons, you will find a balance of speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities that build your confidence step by step.
I use real-life topics, authentic materials, and creative exercises to make English relevant and useful. For example, we might role-play conversations you’d have at work, practice vocabulary through a story connected to your interests, or focus on pronunciation using phrases you can apply right away.
Every student is unique, so I adapt my methods depending on whether you’re preparing for an exam, improving fluency, developing academic skills, or learning English for daily life. I provide clear explanations, patient guidance, and consistent encouragement to help you progress.
I also believe that lessons should reflect your personality and passions. I enjoy history, writing, gardening, and outdoor activities, and I often bring these themes into class to make learning more engaging. Together, we’ll create a positive and motivating space where you feel supported to grow in English.
