About Kayla
I'm Kayla, a language tutor and teacher from Wellington, New Zealand.
I teach both English conversation and te reo Māori, and I'm currently learning Spanish myself, so I understand firsthand what it's like to be a language learner — the mistakes, the plateaus, the small wins.
I'm about to set off on a three-year journey through Mexico and Latin America, so I'll be teaching remotely while I travel, bringing a curious, adaptable energy to my lessons.
Outside of teaching, I like to surf, travel and learn about tech. I care about creating a relaxed, judgment-free space to practice speaking — that's where real progress happens.

I teach English conversation with a focus on real communication, not textbook drills. My background is in language teaching (I'm also a te reo Māori tutor), so I know how to work with learners at different levels and build fluency through natural conversation. Lessons are personalized — I listen for what's actually holding you back, whether that's confidence speaking, specific vocabulary, or getting stuck translating in your head. I'm currently teaching from New Zealand while traveling, bringing an adaptable, patient, and genuinely curious approach to every lesson.
